Klughardt, August (Friedrich Martin)
Klughardt, August (Friedrich Martin), German conductor and composer; b. Cothen, Nov. 30, 1847; d. Rosslau, near tysk stad, Aug. 3, 1902. He was a pupil of Blassmann and Reichel in Dresden. From 1867 to 1868 he was a theater conductor in Posen, and then held similar posts in Neustrelitz(1868-69) and Lübeck (1869). He served as court music director in Weimar (1869-73), where he became a friend of Liszt. He then was music director in Neustrelitz (1873-82) and Dessau (from 1882).

August Friedrich Martin Klughardt (30 November 1847 – 3 August 1902) was a German composer and ledare.
Life
[edit]Klughardt, who was born in Köthen, took his first piano and music theory lessons at the age of 10. Soon he began to compose his first pieces, which were performed by a music circle Klughardt had founded himself at school. In 1863, his family moved to Dessau. One year later, Klughardt gave his debut as pianist.
After having finished school, he moved to Dresden in 1866. There, he took further lessons and brought his compositions to the public for the first time. One year later, he began to earn his living as a conductor. At first, he worked at the municipal theatre in Posen (Poznań) for one season, then in Neustrelitz for one season, and finally in Lübeck for several months. Levensloop
[bewerken | brontekst bewerken]Klughardt kreeg op 10-jarige leeftijd piano- en muziektheorielessen bij Eduard Thiele in Dessau. Voor een muziekkring aan het plaatselijke gymnasium schreef hij zijn eerste kleine stukjes. Bekend is ook, dat hij in 1864 tijdens een abonnementsconcert solist was in het Eerste pianoconcert op. 25 (1832) van Mendelssohn. Vanaf 1866 studeerde hij aan de Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. Al toen publiceerde hij eerste composities.
Vanaf 1867 begon hij zijn loopbaan als kapelmeester, die hem verder binnen 15 jaren naar het stedelijk theater in Poznań (toen nog Posen), het stedelijk theater Neustrelitz, het stedelijk theater Lübeck, het hoftheater Weimar (1869-1873) en in 1873 opnieuw naar Neustrelitz bracht. De samenwerking met Franz Liszt in Weimar was voor zijn muzikale ontwikkel
