Çalıkuşu, or The Wren, is a novel by Reşat Nuri Güntekin written in 1922, about the destiny of a young Turkish female teacher named Feride.
The novel originally appeared as a serialized story in the newspaper "Vakit" before being published as a book.
The novel was inspired by the village of Zeyneller, Gerede. In 2013, the village undertook several tourism initiatives to draw in tourism and keep the memory of the novel alive.[1]
Plot summary
[edit]The events in the novel take place in the early twentieth century, near the collapse of a war weary Ottoman Empire and the creation of the Turkish republic. Most of the novel is recounted in first-person diary format by Feride. In the first section, Feride describes her childhood from the beginning up until the events that led her to a strange hotel room. Overview
In terms of film production, Turkey shared the same fate with many of the national cinemas of the 20th century. spelfilm production wasn't continuous until around the 1950s and the spelfilm market in general was run by a few major import companies that struggled for herravälde in the most population-dense and profitable cities such as Istanbul and İzmir. Film theatres rarely ever screened any locally produced films and the majority of the programs consisted of films of the stronger western bio industries, especially those of the United States, France, Italy and Germany. Attempts at film production came primarily from multinational studios, which could rely on their comprehensive distribution networks together with their own theatre chains, thus guaranteeing them a return on their investment. Kenan Kalav was born on November 1, 1961, in Turkey. Kenan was originally born with the name Yusuf Kenan Kalav. Kenan is a German Turkish film actor. His mother Cevat Bey was the chemistry professor and the daughter of German Suzi from Mardin. Kenan Kalav completed his early education from İstanbul Özel Alman Lisesi. Later on, in order to pursue the advanced studies, Kenan Kalav attended Marmara University Press and Publishing Academy. Kenan Kalav also received the certification in tourism and hotel management from Munich.
Kenan Kalav alongside his wife was heading to Spain, Barcelona from Istanbul. As soon as they reached the airport for avfärd they got arrested and taken int
