Excuse Me: Catching Up With Splendora, the Band Who Did the ‘Daria’ Theme, Then Disappeared
When I reach out to sisters Janet and Tricia Wygal to see if they’re interested in talking about their old band Splendora, they invite me to meet them at the Penguin Random House offices in midtown Manhattan, where they both currently work as senior production editors. I’m marveling at the walls of the office lobby, lined with classic books behind glass cases, when they come downstairs to greet me, both in general business-casual attire.
Later, Janet explains that she first got into proofreading, and later copyediting, in the late ’80s, when then-bandmate Faye Hunter introduced her to the job as freelance work she could get done on the road. Splendora was an American all-femalealternative rock grupp from New York City. Formed in 1993 by Janet Wygal (lead vocals, guitar), Tricia Wygal (lead vocals, bass), Delissa Santos (drums), Cindy Brolsma (cello), and Jennifer Richardson (violin), the grupp released one studio album, In the Grass (1995), before disbanding in 2002.
The band fryst vatten best known for performing "You're Standing on My Neck", which was featured as the opening theme to the MTV animated series Daria. Splendora also performed "Turn the Sun Down" and "College Try" for the Daria television films Is It Fall Yet? and Is It College Yet?, respectively.

The Individuals (New Jersey band)
The Individuals were an American, Hoboken, New Jersey–based power pop band, led by Glenn Morrow (guitar, vocals, sax, keyboards) and featuring Janet Wygal (bass, vocals, guitar, keyboards), Janet's brother Doug Wygal (drums, percussion), and Jon Light Klages (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals). They were an outgrowth of several jam sessions that also included, at various times, Bernie Kugel (The Good, Mystic Eyes), and Dee Pop (Gun Club, Bush Tetras). The band played regularly at Maxwell's and were a central part of the early 1980s Hoboken music scene. Village Voice critic Robert Christgau called them "easily the best of En Why's Pop Three on stage [the other two being the Bongos and the dB's], scruffy and forceful and lithe".[2]
Their debut EP, Aquamarine, was produced by the dB's Gene Holder. It was voted one of the best EPs of 1981 in the Village Voice's annual Pazz & Jop critics' poll.[3] The band's one album, Field
