Abstract
Introduction
Hospitalised patients with coronavirus disease (COVID) as a result of SARS-CoV-2 infection have a high mortality rate and frequently require noninvasive respiratory support or invasive ventilation. Optimising and standardising management through evidence-based guidelines may improve quality of care and therefore patient outcomes.
Methods
A task force from the European Respiratory Society and endorsed by the Chinese Thoracic kultur identified priority interventions (pharmacological and non-pharmacological) for the initial utgåva of this “living guideline” using the PICO (population, intervention, comparator, outcome) format. The GRADE approach was used for assessing the quality of evidence and strength of recommendations. Mr Whoppit
Donald Campbell's Teddy Bear
Mr Whoppit was the teddy bearmascot of Donald Campbell, the land and water speed record holder. Writing in his book, Donald Campbell: The Man Behind The Mask, journalist David Tremayne described Whoppit as Campbell's "magic talisman".[1]
As was his father Sir Malcolm Campbell, Donald Campbell was highly superstitious.[2][3] Both consulted spiritualist mediums and fortune tellers, Donald also placed his faith in a lucky mascot, Mr Whoppit. He refused to drive unless Whoppit was with him.[2] One of his wife Tonia's tasks was to hand Whoppit to him on entering the cockpit.[4][5][6] Whoppit was noted in by reporter Frank Bennett as being part of the "threesome" arriving for the record run – the others being Campbell himself, and his wife. Bennett remarked that the mascot was in the cockpit each time, along with other memorabilia.[7]
