Fellowship Pledge
Recognizing that the American College of Surgeons seeks to exemplify and develop the highest traditions of our ancient profession, I hereby pledge myself, as a condition of Fellowship in the College, to live in strict accordance with the College's principles and regulations.
I pledge to pursue the practice of surgery with honesty and to place the welfare and the rights of my patient above all else. I promise to deal with each patient as I would wish to be dealt with if I were in the patient's position, and I will respect the patient's autonomy and individuality.
I further pledge to affirm and support the social contact of the surgical profession with my community and society.
I will take no part in any arrangement or improper financial dealings that induce referral, treatment, or withholding of treatment for reasons other than the patient's welfare.

Fellowship Checklist
Be a current member of the American Association for Physician Leadership in good standing for the last five consecutive years.
Earn the Certified Physician Executive (CPE) credential.
Candidate will provide a letter of recommendation from a current fellow well versed in the contributions and accomplishments of the candidate. Nominator will document significant contributions, accomplishments, and outcomes that the candidate has delivered. To that end, the nominator will document the issues addressed, actions taken, perspective of the candidate and the resulting achievements and outcomes. Based on previous, successful fellowship application experiences, the AAPL Board and AAPL Council of Fellows strongly encourages the recommender meet with the nominee to review their fellowship application, their professional resume, and their physician leadership philosophy prior to its submission – this will provide the opportunity for critical feedback an

ACG’s Advancement to Fellowship
Since the College’s inception in the mid 1930’s, the designation of Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), has been bestowed upon select members in recognition of significant professional achievement and superior competence within the field of gastroenterology, pediatric gastroenterology, gastrointestinal surgery, gastrointestinal radiology, or gastrointestinal pathology. The FACG designation represents achievements that highlight your dedication to your profession.
To Advance to Fellow, you must meet certain requirements:
- Demonstration of scholarly activities, which include continuing education experience, professional leadership, and excellence in the fields of clinical practice and/or academic medicine.
- Current uninterrupted membership or international membership in the College for a period of no less than five years (post Resident/Trainee Membership).
- Minimum of 3 distinct* ACG managed and spon
