Imam Malik Bin Anas, born in the year 93 AH (after Hijra) in the city of Madina. Imam Malik was the founder of the second school of Islamic legal thought, the Maliki school of thought and was the second of the four great Imams of Islam. Imam Malik was of Yemeni origin. He was described as being very tall and imposing in stature. He had very fair hair. He also had a huge beard and big blue eyes. Imam Malik studied under very acclaimed scholars and teachers, one of them being Imam Abu Hanifa. Malik ibn Anas (Arabic: مَالِك بْن أَنَس, romanized:Mālik ibn ʾAnas; c.–) was an ArabIslamic scholar and traditionalist who is the eponym of the Maliki school, one of the four schools of Islamic jurisprudence in Sunni Islam.[2]
Born in Medina into the clan of Banu Himyar, Malik studied under Hisham ibn Urwa, Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, Ja'far al-Sadiq, Nafi ibn Sarjis and others. Imam Malik ibn Anas was born in 93 Hijri ( AD) in the village called Zul-Marwa in Madina. His father, grandfather, and great grandfather were all renowned people among the scholars of Hadith. Imam Malik grew up in a household of scholarship, but he himself was not very sincere with his studies at a very early age.
