Carl Larsson was born in Gamla stan, the old quarter of Stockholm, on 28 May 1853. His family was poor and Carl grew up in dismal circumstances. The only glimmer of hope was his strong artistic talent, which emerged early on in his life. When he was thirteen years old his teacher at the school for the poor persuaded him to apply for a place at Principskolan, the preparatory department of the Art Academy.
During the first years at Principskolan Carl found it difficult to settle in. His sense of social inferiority made him feel like an outsider. But that changed when, at the age of sixteen, he was moved up to the lowest department of the Art Academy. He began to feel more confident and it was not long before he became one of the central figures in student circles.

Carl Olof Larsson (Swedish pronunciation:[ˈkɑːɭˈlɑ̌ːʂɔn]ⓘ; 28 May 1853 – 22 January 1919) was a Swedish painter representative of the Arts and Crafts movement. His many paintings include oils, watercolors, and frescoes. He is principally known for his watercolors of idyllic family life. He considered his finest work to be Midvinterblot (Midwinter Sacrifice), a large painting now displayed inside the Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts.[2][3]

Karl Larsson (September 16, 1893 – June 1, 1967) was a Swedish-born American artist, known as an engraver, painter, and sculptor.[1]
Biography
[edit]Karl Larsson was born in Skövde, Sweden. He emigrated to America in 1913. He was a painter, sculptor, engraver, muralist, and illustrator who studied at the Art Students League in New York City and was a member of the American Watercolor kultur. He was represented at the Gothenburg Exhibition (1923). In 1924, he exhibited with the kultur of Independent Artists in New York City. He also illustrated children's books, including those authored by his wife Marjorie plan (1897–1958).[2]
He later lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he completed a mural for the Chapel of Lady of Guadalupe Church in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. He also created silver sculptures in churches in Tucson, Fort Defiance, and Phoenix, Arizona.[3] He
