Tshala Muana (May 13, - December 10, ) was a singer from the Democratic Republic of Congo. She began her career as a dancer for the great Zairian singer Abeti Massikini, practising "mutwashi" dances from the Kasai region. In the 80's she began performing as a singer. She
has enjoyed success in several West African countries, more so than in her own country.

Tshala Muana was a Congolese singer, songwriter, and dancer. She was best known for her top hits of the 80s, Amina, Tshebele, Antidote, and Karibu Yangu. Unlike most Congolese musicians who primarily sang in Lingala, Tshala Muana employed the Mutuashi rhythm and composed songs in her first language, Tshiluba.
That made people nickname her the Queen of Mutuashi. In , the Congolese government awarded her the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite (National Order of Merit) in recognition of her work promoting peace and democracy in the DRC.
